Your Wedding Got Rescheduled: Now What?

Published June 3rd, 2020 by Chef's Catering

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted every sector of the country and this includes celebrations. If your wedding has been rescheduled due to the pandemic, you might be wondering what happens next. You still want to make your wedding dreams come true; however, there are going to be a few questions that come to mind.

What Do We Tell Everyone?

When people have questions, they want answers immediately. This probably includes your wedding guests as well. First, remember that this is your wedding. It is okay to let people wait for a little while. The most important people who need to know about the date of your wedding is you and your future spouse. Therefore, simply let your wedding guests know that your wedding date is TBD depending on social distancing guidelines. This will give your wedding guests time to cancel their flights and figure out other plans. If you don’t know your new wedding date until a month before, that is okay! You can leave it up to your guests regarding whether or not they want to attend.

What About Finding a New Location?

If your wedding got canceled, you are probably thinking about where the new wedding is going to be located. Your current venue might not have many future dates open. First, call the current location and see what they have open. You may have to consider off-peak months, Fridays, and Sundays. That is okay! This is a time to be flexible! Some of the dates that might be open in the near future include late summer or early fall. If you are going with a destination wedding, you might need to wait for more guidance regarding international travel.

How About Vendors?

When you have a new date on the calendar, you need to touch base with your vendors to confirm their availability. Remember that many of your vendors have been impacted by the pandemic as well. Therefore, they might be a bit more flexible regarding your new wedding date. This includes rental companies, photographers, lighting experts, florists, and catering companies. There is a good chance that they will be able to accommodate your change in plans. Make sure that you get any confirmed changes in writing.
