Fun Spring Wedding Catering Ideas

Published December 5th, 2019 by Chef's Catering

From baseball to gardening, spring is a new and exciting display of life. That long cold winter is but a memory and endless new opportunities seem to open up before you. Because of this, spring can be an exciting time to have a wedding. And, of course, you’ll likely want to incorporate the season into the food you prepare for this event.  How exactly do you pull it off? Here are some ways to celebrate your wedding and spring at the same time in the food you serve.

Start with Décor

Before getting too involved with your food choices, come up with some creative ways to incorporate spring flowers into your decor. Tulips, daffodils or flower petals are a great addition to any serving table or setting where your guests will be dining.

By doing this, regardless of what type of cuisine you serve, everything will have a spring flare. Your wedding reception will feel fresh and vibrant.

Try Lighter Meals

With the comfort foods of winter becoming less of a focus, consider some lighter menu choices. This could include a tasty and unique soup and salad combo, for instance.

You also may want to consider a seafood option instead of the typical beef or chicken selections.

As the days begin warming up, most people get outside more and stay active. All that extra exercise can make them crave light and healthy food options rather than a menu loaded to the brim with calories.

Fruit-Enhanced Drinks

Because spring colors tend to be lighter and more pastel-like, including fresh lemons, limes and cucumbers with your drinks are a welcomed touch.

This is especially true if you’ll be outside on a warm late spring day. Whether you want these fruits to go with water, soft drinks or margaritas, the natural look and taste will set your wedding reception apart.

Sundae Bar

Few guests will turn down the chance for an ice-cream sundae dessert with a generous selection of toppings. Let’s just say most people don’t keep all those toppings on hand at home when they eat ice cream. And it’s also not typically an option when they order dessert at a local restaurant.

For that reason, a spring sundae bar will be an added treat. Plus, the winter days that welcomed warm desserts have subsided. And with those increasing temps, the cool, refreshing taste of ice cream becomes all the more desirable.
