Five food station ideas for your next wedding

Published January 21st, 2019 by Chef's Catering

Planning a wedding is never easy, but that doesn't mean it can't be fun. Once you've picked out the perfect dress and found a venue that was made for your big day, it's time to start looking at food options for your reception. Food stations have become a big hit in recent years. They allow guests to get the food they want in an atmosphere that's entertaining and engaging.

If your Rochester, NY wedding reception is going to include food stations, here are five options you might want to consider:

1. Carving Station

People have high expectations that the food presentation will be on point at your wedding. A carving station is a great way to invite your guests to interact with the chef, ensuring they have an enjoyable time and get the cut of meat that'll make them happy.

Beef tenderloin and ham carving stations are popular options. A side table with all the condiments your guests will need to season their food to their liking is a great way to top off this type of food station.

2. Macaroni & Cheese Station

Let's be honest—nobody ever really outgrows macaroni and cheese; we just learn to enjoy adult versions of this kid-friendly classic. Mac & cheese stations that include lobster, buffalo chicken, and bacon will please your guests' palettes and hone in on a childlike whimsy that's fit for weddings.

3. Pizza Station

Who said pizza doesn't belong at a wedding? We disagree! If you don't want to make it your main meal, consider offering a pizza station as a late-night snack item for guests who are still getting their party on after dark.

4. Potato Station

Ah, yes. The infamous potato station. It's a fantasy and a dream, rolled up in a spud skin. Potatoes are incredibly versatile, meaning your potato station can include a huge variety of items such as corn, cheese (of course!), caramelized onions, sauteed mushrooms, chili, bacon, green onions, sour cream, butter, chicken, and anything else you can think of. Can't decide between mashed or baked potatoes? Do both!

As an added bonus, this station is vegan- and vegetarian-friendly.

5. Asian Station

Sushi is an impressive food to offer at weddings; it's even more impressive when your guests get to see the sushi made before their very own eyes. Sushi is a great cocktail-hour item. Add some rice paper rolls and noodles in mini takeout boxes, and you've got the scene set for happy guests while you finish getting your photos taken.
